We are families and singles, seniors and children, and everything in between. We gather on Sundays to sing, to pray, and to share our joy, our hopes and our concerns for our neighbors and our world. Our faith tradition is two thousand years old, but our thinking is not. We seek to learn what God is teaching us today about living faithfully in today's world.
Our organization:
The members of United Congregational accomplish the mission of our church through six Ministry Teams who report to the Church Council. Since there is no need for people to attend monthly committee meetings, we can direct more of our talent and time to the ministries of this church.

Our history:
United Congregational Church was formed in 1976 by the joining of the Fourth Congregational Church and the Torringford Congregational Church after the historic Torringford building was destroyed by fire. Our current building is located on the site of the original Torringford Church.
Our affiliation:
Our church is a member of the United Church of Christ (UCC) denomination, affiliated through the Connecticut Conference of the UCC. Each UCC church is autonomous within this affiliation, which means we make decisions by congregational discernment and vote, not by denominational direction. At the same time we are in covenant with all settings of the UCC, which means we are united in the essentials of our faith and we support each others' ministry.
Our purpose:
to worship God,to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ,
to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Communion,
to realize Christian Fellowship and unity within this Church and the Church Universal,
to render loving service towards humankind, and
to strive for righteousness, justice and peace.
